Are you a would-be writer? We want to hear from you! Stripes is looking for a brand-new writing talent to win the chance to be published alongside some of the biggest names on the UKYA scene, including: Tom Becker, Holly Bourne, Sita Brahmachari, Kevin Brooks, Melvin Burgess, Katy Cannon, Sarah Crossan, Juno Dawson, Julie Mayhew, Non Pratt, Marcus Sedgwick, Lisa Williamson and Benjamin Zephaniah.

In partnership with the The Bookseller YA Book Prize, we are seeking an original short story written by an unpublished, unagented author to add to our collection of short stories and poems, I’ll be Home for Christmas. And it’s for a good cause, at least £1 from the sale of each book will be donated to the homelessness charity Crisis.

Your short story doesn’t need to have an explicit ‘homelessness’ angle and can be about whatever captures your imagination on the theme of ‘home at Christmas.’ The anthology is intended to appeal to and represent a diverse audience of young-adult readers.

Not only will the winning story be published in the anthology but the winner will also be invited to appear at this year’s Young Adult Literature Convention (YALC). The closing date for the YA Short Story Prize is 1st April 2016 and further details of how to enter can be found here.

So grab your pens and start scribbling, you’ve got two weeks to enter and we look forward to reading your contribution. And together we will aim to raise £10,000 for Crisis this Christmas!
