Work for Us

Careers at Little Tiger Group

Design Studio – Children’s Fiction (Stripes Publishing)

Stripes Publishing is expanding, and we are looking for Designers with a passion for children's fiction to work on our range of highly accessible and innovative titles for children aged 6-YA.

Senior Designer

We are looking for a Senior Designer with 3-4 years’ experience in Children’s publishing, ideally in fiction – series, middle grade, teen and YA. You will be extremely well-organised, highly inventive and have a keen eye for new illustration talent and industry trends. You will be able to show us a library of beautiful and brilliant books that you have designed, and you’ll have a head full of ideas about how you’ll make even better ones. You will be able to effectively and enthusiastically communicate these great ideas within the Stripes team and to the illustrators that you work with. A passion for children’s fiction is, of course, essential. Reporting to the Art Director, you will work across the list, creating stand-out covers for series and standalone titles and design-led insides in mono and in colour, commissioning illustrators and freelancers, preparing files for repro. You will be required to work on a number of titles simultaneously, taking ownership of books and series and seeing projects through to print on schedule. We are looking for someone who is keen to step up, who can readily pick up ongoing projects and who will work independently from day one.

Designer

We are also looking for a Designer to join our team. You will have 1-2 years experience in design, ideally but not essentially in Publishing. We are looking for someone who is smart, curious, eager to learn and above all passionate about Children’s Books. You will be able to demonstrate design flair and the ability to communicate a story visually. As an integral member of the team, you will work on all aspects of our design output, including books, eBooks and Sales and Marketing materials for print and web. You will also take responsibility for your own frontlist titles. We are looking for someone who collaborates well and who is looking to broaden their craft as a Designer.

The Company

Celebrating 10 years, Stripes Publishing has established itself as a publisher of quality fiction. We create incredible books – the very best in commercial and child-friendly fiction. Our list features well-loved authors such as Holly Webb, Alan MacDonald, Guy Bass, Katy Cannon, Linda Chapman and Barry Hutchison, and our illustrators include David Roberts, Lee Robinson, Becka Moor, Jason Cockcroft, Sarah Horne and Katie Abey. We publish a range of highly successful series including Dirty Bertie, Stitch Head, Red Eye and Holly Webb’s Animal Stories, as well as the YA anthologies I’ll Be Home for Christmas and A Change Is Gonna Come.
