Little Tiger Press – Foreign Rights Assistant
Our busy foreign rights department is looking for a hands-on assistant to help manage the production fulfillment of its many co-editions as well as to support the team with various administrative tasks.
The job will involve liaising with the customers and the production department ensuring all co-editions are printed and delivered smoothly and on time. You will also be expected to provide general support to the department for the preparation of book fairs and follow-up.
Great attention to detail, ability to multi-task, flexibility and excellent communications skills are required to succeed in this role.

Previous experience in publishing preferred but we will consider all applications.

- Fulfilment: sending co-edition files, making sure translation files are back on time, liaising between internal departments, design / production and customers, follow-up schedules and payments are made on time and according to contract terms

- General admin support: sending submission material and letters / contracts / requesting tax forms, keeping accurate and up-to-date records

- Managing the department during bookfairs

- Good working knowledge of MS Office, InDesign, professional Adobe / PDF reader would be a distinct advantage

- Knowledge of one or two foreign languages would be preferred

- Some understanding of printing processes and production would be useful

Sales Operations Controller

We have an excellent opportunity for a Sales Operations Controller that is looking to gain further experience within the publishing industry.
Little Tiger Press produces award-winning picture book, novelty, early learning and fiction titles for children aged 0- 16 with a rapidly expanding list that includes the launch of a non-fiction range.
The Company offers excellent career prospects, presenting further opportunities for those that are ambitious and highly motivated. Candidate applications are welcomed regardless of previous experience in the industry but previous knowledge, would be helpful.

• Working as part of the sales team you will report to the Group Sales Director and work closely with the UK, US and Export Account Managers to deliver comprehensive and detailed stock analysis.
• Maintain and analyse sales databases, spreadsheets and schedules to track and monitor sales and stock for trade titles.
• Identify and recommend reprints for UK Trade titles as well as managing schedules and costs.
• Communicate relevant changes to the current publishing schedule internally and to third parties where necessary.
• Manage company use of BooksOnix and Nielsen providing updates and TCM analysis on a regular basis.
• Maintain data integrity of titles at the warehouse i.e. Market restrictions, pricing, VAT implications and editions.
• Provide sales analysis and reports for company wide use when needed.
• Directly liaise with our UK warehouse (as the main point of contact) and other external partners to provide relevant stock information and fulfill customer orders
• Oversee all warehouse sales, orders, and dues utilizing relevant programs where needed such as Midas and Vista.
• Troubleshoot any issues between LTP departments and our distributor by developing and maintaining a good relationship between relevant teams.
• Oversee monthly sales against budget figures and analyse sales/returns. Utilise data to ensure correct invoicing and commission statements have been supplied.
• Maintain the stock levels of the showroom library so that it can be used to its full potential as a sales material resource
• Additional administrative duties may be given especially in the run up to customer meetings or books fairs.

• Ideal candidates will have a passion for children’s books with a desire to develop an operations career within the publishing industry
• Good analysis and customer service skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• The administrative ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize accordingly
• Highly organised, passionate and motivated
• Be able to utilise outstanding attention to detail in all communications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power-point)

Work experience

Are you interested in a career in publishing? Would you like to learn more about how a children’s publishing house works, gain valuable experience in the industry, and discover what it takes to bring a children’s book to life?

Little Tiger Press offers work experience placements in the Editorial, Design and Marketing & Publicity departments. These are unpaid (although we do cover expenses of up to £10 per day) and usually last a fortnight.

Work experience at Little Tiger amounts to much more than tea-making and photocopying. Tasks will vary – from reading new picture book submissions alongside an editor, to writing a press release for the marketing team, to researching festival dates with our publicist, you’ll certainly be kept busy!
