STRIPES PUBLISHING - Rights Executive

We are looking for a Rights Executive with a passion for children’s fiction to join our busy team. The Rights Executive will work alongside our freelance Rights Consultant and will be supported in-house by the Little Tiger rights team. 

The job will involve building existing customer relationships and looking for new customers, sub-agent management, fulfilment of own deals from offer stage to supplying material and processing royalty statements, territory-specific sales trips and attendance at London, Bologna and Frankfurt book fairs. The position also involves providing in-house support to the Rights Consultant, including sending out submissions samples, book fair planning and follow-up, drafting contracts, managing co-editions and maintaining our Rights database. 

The ideal candidate should ideally have at least a year's experience working within the publishing industry, preferably in rights, although full training will be given according to experience. You should be competent with Word and Excel, be highly organised with the ability to multi-task and prioritise, and be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

LITTLE TIGER PRESS - Production Controller

We are looking for a Production Controller to join a busy and skilled team, working on our Special Sales projects and backlist of four-colour children's picture books and board books.

The job will involve the fulfilment of titles from receipt of files to delivery, working directly with suppliers in the Far East, coordinating schedules, managing co-edition print runs and negotiating print prices. Therefore, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both in-house departments and external suppliers is essential.

The ideal candidate will already be working within a book production environment, with a minimum of one year's experience. They will have strong organisational and problem-solving skills as well as a can-do attitude.

Work experience

Are you interested in a career in publishing? Would you like to learn more about how a children’s publishing house works, gain valuable experience in the industry, and discover what it takes to bring a children’s book to life?

Little Tiger Press offers work experience placements in the Editorial, Design and Marketing & Publicity departments. These are unpaid (although we do cover expenses of up to £10 per day) and usually last a fortnight.

Work experience at Little Tiger amounts to much more than tea-making and photocopying. Tasks will vary – from reading new picture book submissions alongside an editor, to writing a press release for the marketing team, to researching festival dates with our publicist, you’ll certainly be kept busy!
